Schwab Unveils Android App for Advisers

Charles Schwab released the Android version of its Schwab Advisor Center app for independent investment advisers who work with Schwab Advisor Services.

Advisers can use the app to access client account information via Android devices, including phones, tablets and Kindle products. The app can search for client accounts by name or number, view single account balances, positions and history, and look up contact information for Schwab service team members. Schwab launched its Schwab Advisor Center app for Apple devices in 2012.

According to Neesha Hathi, senior vice president of technology solutions for Schwab Advisor Services, the firm has seen an explosion of interest in mobile technologies among its advisers over the past year and a half. “Advisers are using mobile technology as an easy way to access information on the go, but many are also recognizing that it’s a powerful tool to increase business efficiency, cut down on paperwork and improve client service,” Hathi said.

Investors who work with independent investment advisers also have access to apps for the iPhone, iPad, and Android.

“The power of mobile comes when advisers use it to make significant changes in how they communicate with their clients and improve business processes,” Hathi said. “The app itself is really just the building block.”

The app, for Android devices that run OS 2.2 or higher, can be downloaded free from the Google store.
