ClearVest Offers Access to Alternative Funds

Investment analytics firm ClearVest opened its unified investment management platform to investors and financial advisers seeking access to alternative investments.

The platform has added 30 investment funds since its initial launch in July, geared towards wealth advisers, qualified investors, corporations and other institutions looking for a portfolio solution that can field both traditional and alternative assets.  

According to a statement from the firm, the ClearVest platform allows investors to easily access and assess alternative asset managers, upload an existing portfolio, perform comparative analysis on hypothetical portfolios, reallocate funds to enhance performance and manage risk, and use an automated subscription process to make platform investments.

The platform offers users access to top-tier funds and a customized managed account solutionincluding daily position reconciliation, daily risk monitoring, performance analysis, NAV calculation and complete investor reporting.

Other investment firms that have joined the ClearVest platform include Hudson Bay Capital Management LLC and Winton Capital Management Ltd.

Ameritas to Absorb Affiliated Insurance Firms

The boards of directors of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. and The Union Central Life Insurance Company approved a merger of the two affiliated insurance companies.

The two firms will come together under the Ameritas Life name, effective July 1, 2014.

In a separate move, the Ameritas board voted in conjunction with directors at another Ameritas affiliate, Acacia Life Insurance Company, to bring that company under the Ameritas name as well. The deal also takes effect in July of next year, and both are subject to the approval of relevant insurance regulatory agencies.

Commenting on the announcement, Ameritas president, chair and CEO JoAnn Martin says the actions were undertaken to improve operational efficiency and simplify business models.
