Chicago Booth School Offers CIMA Education for Advisers

The program allows candidates to learn the CIMA curriculum at their own pace, while also providing an opportunity to engage with Chicago Booth faculty through live online and video on-demand instruction.

The Investments & Wealth Institute and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business announced a new registered education program for advanced financial advisers pursuing certified investment management analyst (CIMA) certification.

The new program is known as the Chicago Booth CIMA Education Program. According to the organizations, the program allows candidates to learn the CIMA curriculum at their own pace, while also providing an opportunity to engage with Chicago Booth faculty through a combination of live-online and video on-demand instruction. In addition, candidates may elect to attend a two-day intensive CIMA exam preparation workshop which will be offered in-person beginning May 2019.

The personalized study schedule includes pre-reading, lectures, practice problem solving, online reviews and quizzes. Feedback is provided by Booth faculty on quiz and problem-solving exercises through online learning tools and live online review sessions.

“We have a long-established relationship with Chicago Booth and are excited to have them offer CIMA candidates a premier-quality education using a unique and practical learning modality,” says Sean Walters, Investments & Wealth Institute chief executive officer.

Walters notes the Investments & Wealth Institute has administered the CIMA certification program for 30 years. The process for earning the CIMA certification includes a comprehensive background check, three-years of advisory experience, completion of a registered executive education program, adherence to a Code of Professional Responsibility, and passing a 140-question, 5-hour examination.

Immediately upon acceptance as a CIMA candidate, financial professionals may enroll in the Chicago Booth CIMA Education Program at a cost of $4,750, which includes tuition for the online course and two-day workshop. The first cohort will be held 19 February through 10 May, 2019.
