PLANADVISER: Tell us about your role at your firm and how you contribute to its growth and progress.
Lyons: At Shepherd Financial, I support our retirement team by preparing for client meetings and helping ensure everything runs smoothly. I create meeting agendas, build presentations, and gather current plan sponsor and participant data. I also keep the team informed on pending items and make sure all materials are organized, accurate and ready to be shared with clients. By keeping our team prepared and on track, I help create a seamless experience for both our advisers and clients.
PLANADVISER: What outside interests or experiences have influenced how you approach your career?
Lyons: I’ve always been a people person—or, as my mom says, a social butterfly. Throughout my career, cultivating relationships and learning from others have greatly advanced my career path. I value genuine connections and have been fortunate to build a network of professionals I can turn to for guidance, support and new perspectives. Those relationships continue to inspire both my personal and professional growth.
PLANADVISER: What’s your favorite book or podcast?
Lyons: I’m currently reading the “Throne of Glass” series, and I love that it’s filled with action, adventure and a touch of whimsy. The author, Sarah J. Maas, has a talent for creating complex characters and crafting storylines that always keep me on my toes. I tend to seek out books that allow me to step away from reality and completely immerse myself in another world.
I also love listening to podcasts that cover current events in pop culture. I tune in weekly to “Chicks in the Office” and enjoy playing along with the pop culture trivia game on Fridays.
