2025 Excellence In Operations

Whitney Hue

Director of Sales Support,
Creative Planning

PLANADVISER: Tell us about your role at your firm and your current responsibilities? How do you contribute to your firm/team’s growth and progress?

Hue: As the director of sales support at Creative Planning, my role sits at the intersection of marketing, technology, process optimization and business development. I lead a talented team that partners with our managing directors to ensure they have the tools, resources and insights needed to prospect effectively—whether that’s through marketing content, sales technology or data-driven strategies.

While I’ve been nominated for an individual award, I view it as a reflection of the collective work my team and I do together. We’ve launched a suite of impactful tools that help our managing directors reach a wider range of strategically targeted audiences, and we play a key role in shaping and distributing the storybook of Creative Planning’s offerings. Beyond direct sales support, we’ve contributed to firm-wide initiatives, developing and organizing client-facing content, creating a centralized repository of materials, and continuously finding new ways to elevate Creative Planning’s brand and presence in the market.

PLANADVISER: What are the skills that are most needed to be successful in your role?

Hue: I believe success begins with being an effective listener and a steady presence, especially in a fast-paced industry like our own. I think the role requires resilience, the ability to manage multiple priorities and a sharp attention to detail, all while staying focused on the broader vision. I’m fortunate to work alongside so many other good leaders in operations who also lead with curiosity, ask the right questions and look for thoughtful solutions, knowing even small wins can create meaningful momentum.

Adaptability is equally critical. Our business is constantly evolving, and part of my responsibility is to navigate that change while supporting others through it with clarity, consistency and kindness. I don’t expect perfection, but I do want the people I work with to feel confident in my commitment to improving every project I touch and finding a productive path forward, no matter the challenge.

PLANADVISER: What have you done that you are most proud of?

Hue: Career-wise, what I’m most proud of is helping others grow and advance their careers. I’ve been fortunate to work under incredible leaders—especially during my time at Creative Planning, which is now approaching its ninth year. As someone who stumbled into this industry simply looking for a job, I’m deeply grateful to the mentors who invested in me and helped shape my path.

Now, nothing brings me greater fulfillment than paying that forward, whether it’s supporting a managing director in achieving a sales goal or helping an associate advance in their career. One moment that stands out is when I was able to bring a talented team member over from another internal department after several thoughtful conversations about how we both envisioned her role evolving. From the beginning, we were intentional about creating a development path, and seeing that culminate in her well-earned promotion was an incredibly meaningful moment for me. It reinforced not only her value to the organization, but also the importance of investing in people with purpose and intention.
