Great-West Names Great Lakes Regional Sales Director

Great-West Retirement Services announced that Mark Berman will join the firm as regional sales director for its Great Lakes market. 

Berman will be responsible for developing new business in the $50+ million corporate and nonprofit defined contribution market in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. He is based in Chicago and will report to Pete Margiotta, national sales director; he is replacing Dan Schatz, who moved to a similar position in Texas.

Berman comes to Great-West Retirement Services from Marshall and Ilsley Trust Company, where he was vice president and sales director.  He has also held defined contribution market sales positions at Principal Financial Group and ABN Amro.

Berman graduated from Bradley University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and also holds FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities registrations and life and health insurance licenses.

Wesley Chan Joins Acadian

Wesley S. Chan will join Acadian Asset Management LLC as Director of Research Operations.

As Director of Research Operations, Chan will lead Acadian’s bottom-up research effort alongside Malcolm Baker, a finance professor at Harvard Business School, who consults with the firm.  

Chan comes to Acadian from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he served as a Vice President in the Quantitative Investment Strategies group; he was a lead member of a team responsible for tens of billions of dollars in global equity investments, developing alpha themes, and implementing new signals. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he was a partner and lead equity researcher at AlphaSimplex Group in Cambridge, Mass. Chan earned his A.B. in Economics from Princeton University, and a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from MIT Sloan School of Management.
