William Blair Investment Management Names Global Head of Distribution

William Blair & Company announced that Daniel P. Charles will join the firm as global head of distribution for William Blair Investment Management, effective March 10.

In this newly created position, he will report to Michelle R. Seitz, head of Investment Management and a member of the firm’s executive committee.

According to the announcement, Charles is an investment industry veteran with 21 years of experience, who joins the firm from Janus Capital Group Inc., where he has served as a member of its executive committee. As executive vice president and head of institutional and international, he has been responsible for Janus’s global institutional business, including sales, client service, and consultant relations.

Prior to Janus, Charles was national head of sales for Bank of America Institutional Investment Solutions, and before that he spent 13 years with ING and Aetna Financial Services overseeing their sales and client service operations in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.

RothProfessional.com Aims to Help Advisers Spot Roth Conversion Opportunity

Archimedes Systems, Inc., and Convergent Retirement Plan Solutions LLC announced the launch of RothProfessional.com, a Web portal to aid advisers with Roth individual retirement account (IRA) conversions.

The firms said the Web site provides financial advisers access to the Roth Conversion Optimizer and a library of source documents related to the pertinent laws, regulations, and rulings concerning Roth IRA conversions and the 2010 Roth IRA conversion changes. The Roth Conversion Optimizer allows advisers to model 10 different conversion scenarios simultaneously to help clients select a potentially optimal level of Roth IRA conversion based on a variety of user inputs (see “Web-Based Tool Helps Advisers Perform Roth Conversion Analyses”).
