Vanguard Launches AI-Powered Portfolio Analysis Tool

The Vanguard Group Inc. launched Expert Insights, an artificial intelligence-enabled tool currently available to select advisers. It will be embedded into Vanguard’s open-access portfolio analytics tool for client portfolios later this year.

Expert Insights is designed to provide personalized portfolio insights and simplify complex data, using the expertise of Vanguard’s analysis specialists.

“As Expert Insights conducts its analysis, it crafts a narrative using Vanguard’s unique perspective and proprietary methodology that explains the recommended actions in a way that’s easy for advisors’ clients to understand,” Sid Ratna, head of digital & analytics, financial adviser services at Vanguard told PLANADVISER in an email.

Giving a use case, Ratna said, “If a client notices their account balance falling and wants to shift some holdings to cash, an adviser can use Expert Insights to generate straightforward talking points outlining the current state of the portfolio, giving them more context quickly and helping them reiterate how changes could impact long-term objectives.”

Last year, Vanguard launched its first client-facing generative AI tool, which provides advisers with personalized content for client communications.

Vanguard’s portfolio analytics tool includes a stress-testing feature which evaluates client portfolios in extreme market circumstances and test performance during historical and future scenarios.

“With Expert Insights, we’re providing advisers with a clear, straightforward way of communicating the advantages of their clients’ portfolios, opening more time for advisers to spend coaching and building trust with their clients,” Ratna said in the announcement.

In PLANADVISER’s 2025 Retirement Plan Adviser Survey, Vanguard was ranked third in the category of practice management ideas, tools and other value-added services, behind J.P. Morgan and Capital Group.

As a result, Vanguard was recognized with two 2026 PLANADVISER Adviser Choice Awards for excellence in investments and recordkeeping.
