Transamerica Adds Three to TPA Channel Team

Transamerica Retirement Services announced the addition of three people to its Third Party Administrator (TPA) Channel “to boost support and services for the TPA community.”

Matthew King has been named TPA sales support manager, while Matthew Petersen and Justin Schlader will join the team as TPA development managers. All will report to Deborah Rubin, vice president, head of TPA Channel Distribution.  

According to the announcement, King will focus on enhancing the training experience for TPAs by developing, managing, and advancing Transamerica’s TPA support tools. He joins Transamerica from ING where he most recently served as operations manager for defined contribution TPA plan management.

In his new role, Petersen will expand and deepen relationships with both current and prospective TPAs. Specifically, he will oversee TPA relationships throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Petersen has been an internal sales consultant at Transamerica since 2007. 

Schlader, a Transamerica employee since 2004, will assume the role of TPA development manager where he will oversee TPA relationships in several states across the Central and Northwestern regions. Schlader’s was most recently a market development specialist for Transamerica.

IRI Taps Plotnick for Director of Research

The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) has hired Lisa Plotnick as director of research.

A news release said Plotnick brings 20 years of financial industry experience, specializing in annuities, to the position.

Prior to joining IRI, Plotnick served as a director at Cerulli Associates from 2005-2010, where she oversaw its insurance initiatives including the development, distribution, and strategic positioning of annuities and life insurance.

Plotnick has held numerous other positions including vice president and director of variable annuity research at Financial Research Corporation (FRC), various positions at John Hancock Life, an actuarial assistant with William M. Mercer’s defined benefit valuation group, and a policy analyst for the City of New York.
