Seniors More Satisfied with Life

A recent study found that healthy older adults have less negative thoughts than other age groups, leading to more life satisfaction.

Research suggests that sufferers of negative thinking, or brooding, have a tendency to focus on their problems without taking action, which can lead to depression.

The study asked 300 participants, ages 15 to 87, to rate their negative thoughts, depression and personal well-being. Researchers found that life satisfaction was negatively impacted by brooding, with those ages 63 and older reporting less brooding than younger participants.
