FINRA Launches Crypto, Blockchain Education Program

The program includes in-person training offered in partnership with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority is offering a new Crypto and Blockchain Education Program, made up of self-paced online courses and a separate in-person course offered in partnership with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

The online courses, available beginning in October to FINRA member firms and their employees through FINRA’s Financial Learning Experience platform, cover topics including:

  • Cryptocurrency and blockchain terminology;
  • Blockchain operations and on-chain transactions;
  • Evolution of blockchain technology;
  • Types of crypto assets and related products;
  • Crypto ecosystem and markets;
  • Key considerations for FINRA member firms with touchpoints to crypto assets and blockchain technology; and
  • Common fraud schemes with crypto asset exposure.

Greg Ruppert, FINRA’s executive vice president of member supervision, said in a statement, “We are excited to offer a new Crypto and Blockchain Education Program to continue supporting our member firms as they navigate evolving products and technology.”
