DPL Introduces Interactive ‘Annuity Review’ Tool
The offering is intended to help advisers identify annuity contracts that can be exchanged for a fee-based product and to improve efficiency.
DPL Financial Partners LLC, an annuity and insurance platform for registered investment advisers, launched Annuity Review, an interactive decisionmaking tool for advisory firms to align books of legacy annuities with a fee-based advice model.
Annuity Review was developed from DPL’s Annuity Comparison Calculator, which compared individual contracts to a marketplace of commission-free products. The company scaled the technology after working with multiple large firms to evaluate entire books of annuities at one time.
Since Annuity Review’s late 2025 soft launch with key member firms, almost $1 billion in annuities has been uploaded to the platform.
Through rapid analysis of a portfolio of annuities, Annuity Review identifies contracts that can be exchanged for a fee-based product. Contracts that are not suitable for exchange can be transferred to DPL as agent of record and monitored for transition over time. Advisers can review, share and approve client recommendations through a centralized dashboard.
Annuity Review is intended to improve efficiency, allowing advisers to easily initiate online applications, enabling collaboration with service teams and clients.
“As more advisers today move to a fee-based advice model, annuities have remained an outlier,” DPL Founder and CEO David Lau said in a statement. “Our technology helps advisers to become fully aligned with their clients as fiduciaries—focused on providing advice, not selling products. And it enables them to shift annuity revenue from commission trails to transparent fees, while moving clients into lower-cost, commission-free solutions that deliver greater value and better support their goals.”
DPL has almost $6 billion in assets under advisement and serves more than 8,500 RIA firms either directly or through integrations with wealth management platforms such as Black Diamond and Orion.
