Nationwide Annuity Names Kush Kotecha as President

Craig Hawley, the outgoing president, was promoted to lead Nationwide’s financial services division.

Nationwide Financial named Kush Kotecha as its new head of Nationwide Annuity, replacing Craig Hawley, who was promoted in August to president of the company’s financial services division.

Kotecha has more than 20 years of financial services and insurance experience, most recently serving as the senior vice president of product and innovation at TIAA Financial Services.

Prior to that, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of product and business development at TIAA, where he developed and managed the methodology, governance and infrastructure for both existing and new business ventures. His team implemented innovative reporting systems that enhanced analytics capabilities, facilitating data-driven decisionmaking and improving awareness of product profitability, according to a press release.

Before joining TIAA, Kotecha was vice president of U.S. business strategy at Prudential Financial and senior vice president at Ohio National. He also spent 13 years at Ernst & Young as a senior manager in insurance and actuarial advisory services, advising insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as banks.

Kotecha earned a bachelor’s degree in math actuarial science from the University of Waterloo, located in Waterloo, Ontario.
