Loomis Sayles Hires Core Bond Strategy Co-Head

Loomis, Sayles & Company said that core bond manager Lynne A. Royer has joined the company as vice president and co-head of a core bond strategy—and rejoined a former colleague.
According to the firm, this follows last month’s announcement that Bill Stevens has been hired to develop and manage a new core strategy aimed at expanding Loomis Sayles’ current fixed-income capabilities.

Royer joins the firm from Wells Capital Management, where she served as co-head of the Montgomery Fixed Income Strategies team with Bill since March 2008. She had served as a portfolio manager on the team since May 2007, and had been part of the team for more than 10 years, having previously served as a senior analyst in the fixed-income division of Montgomery Asset Management beginning in 1996, according to the announcement.  The investment team was acquired by Wells Capital Management in 2003.

Both Royer and Stevens report to Jae Park, Chief Investment Officer of the Loomis Sayles Fixed Income Group. “I have followed Lynne’s rise at Wells over the last several years and am extremely confident that she is the ideal fit for this position,” said Jae. “It was not only her long-standing and successful collaboration with Bill that made her a top candidate, but also her commitment to this investment philosophy that will round out our range of investment products.”

Loomis Sayles managed more than $140 billion in equity and fixed income assets as of December 31, according to the firm.
