FTSE Provides Clean Tech Indexes

FTSE Group, a global index provider, has launched capital investment tools to help investors identify and gain exposure to the environmental technology sector.

According to a press release, the new tools include what FTSE says is the world’s first global environmental markets industry classification system, designed to allow companies to be classified by sector and sub-sector according to the environmental products and services they provide.

“The introduction of the classification system allows those companies who provide essential environmental products, activities and services, to be identified more easily, facilitating a peer to peer comparison on a global, regional and pan-regional basis,” the press release said.

The system also provides a basis for the creation of sector-based investment products such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, and derivatives products.

Seven new equity indices which use the new environmental markets classification have also been added to the FTSE Environmental Opportunities Index Series:

ING Names New Head of TPA Channel

ING named Ralph DelSesto as the new head of its TPA Channel, the company announced.

DelSesto previously led the Corporate Markets TPA Channel before moving to head up the TPA Channel for ING’s Public Markets 403(b) team. “With the introduction of the new 403(b) regulations and the natural synergies that exist as a result, he has been chosen to lead both channels in a new combined role,’ the company said. With DelSesto’s new role, ING will offer a single point of contact for all TPA partners.

He will report to Ginger Brennan, senior vice president and head of National Channel Management for ING.

Earlier this year, Brennan was appointed to that new leadership role, which includes overseeing the TPA channel. She also serves as head of the Business Development Group, which works with broker/dealers; oversees mid-market distribution in order to capitalize on using the CitiStreet platform, acquired last year (see “CitiStreet Sold to ING for $900 Million;’) and guides sales strategy, direction, and training for all internal wholesalers across country, according to ING.
