Focus Hires Director of Adviser Services

Focus Financial Partners LLC (“Focus”) hired Garry Taylor as a director of adviser services.

As part of the Focus Connections team, Taylor will assist breakaway advisers as they transition to independent RIAs. Taylor will also be responsible for transitioning breakaways joining Focus partner firms, and affiliates, as sub-acquisitions. 

Taylor will report to Rich Gill, managing director and head of Focus Connections. He will also work closely with Mark Dupont, director of adviser services.

Taylor was previously a director of client implementation at Fidelity Investments. Before that, he was an investor services adviser at Merrill Lynch and Torrie & Co. (now Charles Stanley), and began his career as a private client stockbroker in the UK.

Taylor earned an MA in Accountancy and Finance with first-class honors from Heriot-Watt University in the UK.

TIAA-CREF Asset Management Leader Resigns

Scott C. Evans, executive vice president and president of Asset Management, TIAA-CREF, has resigned.

Evans said the time is right to begin a new chapter of his life outside of TIAA-CREF. He plans to take time off with his family.  

“We thank Scott for his many contributions and respect his decision to spend more time with his family. After 27 years of faithful service, he will leave TIAA-CREF with a deep bench of asset management leaders in place and proven strategies,” a company spokesperson told PLANADVISER. “Scott will continue to work with us to ensure a smooth transition as we conduct the search for his successor.”
