ETF Portfolio Names Senior Investment Adviser

ETF Portfolio Partners Inc., an advisory firm that manages portfolios of exchanged-traded funds (ETFs), hired David A. Vaughn as a senior investment adviser.

Vaughn managed client assets of approximately $150 million with the Mutual Fund Store since 2000 before joining ETF Portfolio. Previously he worked for PaineWebber, managing individual and institutional assets. Vaughn also was at Prudential Securities with Richard D. Romey, ETF Portfolio’s founder and president. Vaughn holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, where he studied communications and economics.

“The basic mutual fund structure has not changed since the 1930s,” Vaughn said. “ETFs are the modern version of mutual funds. Indexing is a very difficult strategy for most actively managed mutual fund managers to beat, and the majority of ETFs are index-based. If an investor can pay a fraction of the fees associated with actively managed mutual funds and use an investment strategy that has historically delivered better results, I like the odds.”
