ERIC President Announces Retirement

Mark Ugoretz, president of The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC), announced he will retire on June 1.

Ugoretz has been president of ERIC since 1983, overseeing the association’s legislative, regulatory and educational mission.

“My career with ERICand its leadership, members and staff, as well as my colleagues in the benefits community, has been extraordinarily rewarding. ERIC’s members demonstrate a consistent commitment and dedication to employee benefits and economic security that has always made me proud to represent them,” Ugoretz said.

The ERIC Board of Directors said Scott Macey, currently Of Counsel to Covington & Burling LLP, will serve as interim president and chief executive of ERIC during the search for a successor.

Macey has more than 30 years of experience in compensation and benefit consulting in health care, pensions and executive compensation, and has been associated with ERIC for more than 35 years, serving on the Board for approximately 30 of those years, first as AT&T’s representative and later representing Aon Consulting. Macey was also chairman of ERIC in the mid-1990s.

Macey will leave Covington & Burling at the end of May and join ERIC on June 1.
