America250, ICI Team Up to Promote Investment Funds

The partnership will feature digital content and a national advertising campaign.

The Investment Company Institute announced this week that it will partner to promote the investment fund industry with America250.org Inc., the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission leading celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The partnership will feature digital content and a national advertising campaign titled, “Invested in America.” According to ICI’s announcement, the campaign will convey how the investment fund industry supports the financial health of the U.S. economy, communities and families.

“America’s strength has always come from people investing in the future of their families, communities, and the nation itself,” said Eric Pan, the ICI’s president and CEO, in a statement. “Our partnership with America250 reflects how the investment fund industry is ‘Invested in America,’ supporting long-term financial security for American families, strengthening public infrastructure, and channeling savings into businesses that drive economic growth.”

In its announcement, ICI stated that “Invested in America” will share the effect of investment funds upon the U.S. economy.

In an article Pan authored one day after the ICI’s announcement, he made clear that more than half of Americans (nearly 130 million people) currently own mutual funds, exchange-traded funds or other registered investment funds. Pan added that fund ownership has grown particularly quickly among middle- and lower- income households over the past 20 years.

The ICI’s members include companies creating and selling mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, closed-end funds and unit investment trusts. The members manage $43.5 trillion invested in funds registered under the U.S. Investment Company Act of 1940, according to the group’s announcement.
