John Hancock Relaunches Disciplined Value Fund

John Hancock Funds announced it has completed the adoption of the Robeco Boston Partners Large Cap Value Fund and relaunched it as John Hancock Disciplined Value Fund (JVLAX).

Keith F. Hartstein, John Hancock President and CEO, said in the announcement the Disciplined Value Fund is a core value fund with broad sector representation, and it offers advisers and investors an alternative to the more concentrated approach of the John Hancock Classic Value Fund.

The fund seeks to provide long-term growth of capital primarily through investment in equity securities, with current income as a secondary objective, the announcement said. It pursues its objectives by investing, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of net assets in a diversified portfolio consisting primarily of equity securities of issuers with a market capitalization of $1 billion or greater that are identified by Robeco Boston Partners as having value characteristics.

PIMCO Says Index Positions Investors for Global Economic Shifts

Calling it an "index for a changing world," investment manager PIMCO has introduced the PIMCO Global Advantage Bond Index (GLADI).

A PIMCO press release said GLADI covers a broad set of markets and claims it uses more robust construction approaches than many other indexes. The index will also serve as a benchmark for a new product to be introduced this month by PIMCO, according to the release.

“The global economy is in the midst of dramatic transformations in growth drivers, wealth dynamics, and institutions. These changes are affecting the ability of traditional investment approaches to generate sustainable returns while cautiously managing risks. GLADI is constructed explicitly to give investors a potential first-mover benefit as they position their fixed income portfolios for this journey as well as for the future global landscape,” the company said.

The PIMCO Global Advantage Bond Index will be administered and calculated independently from PIMCO by Markit LLC, an unaffiliated leading financial information services company and global index provider.
