Burnham Benefits Appoints Vice President

Janet Vreeland has been named a vice president at Burnham Benefits Insurance Services.

As vice president of new business development and account leadership, Vreeland will support Burnham’s current client relationships and focus on expanding in the Southwest, including Arizona.

Vreeland will lead industry and branding growth initiatives, including involvement with CFO roundtables and affiliations with local professional associations, such as the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the CFO Alliance in Southern California and Arizona.

Vreeland, a 25-year veteran of the financial services industry, spent more than 10 years at Aon Risk Insurance Services West Inc. in Phoenix, where she served as a vice president and was ranked third out of 50 national health and benefits producers for new revenue production. Vreeland also achieved total client satisfaction through Aon’s Client Net Promoter scoring system.

Mercer Names Midwest Retirement Head

David Weissner was named Midwest market business leader for Mercer’s retirement business.

Based in Chicago, Weissner will be responsible for overall business performance, client satisfaction and continued growth. He takes over from Louis Gagnon, who had been serving in an interim leadership capacity and who will now return full time to his position as global and U.S. head of retirement sales. Weissner will report to Jacques Goulet, North American leader of Mercer’s retirement business.

Weissner has established strong leadership and consulting abilities during his 20 years of experience. He most recently served as retirement office business leader for Mercer’s Minneapolis location. Before joining Mercer in 2001, he was a senior consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He began his career as an actuarial analyst with The Segal Company.

Weissner holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
