Principal Funds Expands Investment-Only Team

Principal Funds added three regional directors to its investment-only team.

Each will focus on growth within the registered investment adviser (RIA) distribution channel. 

Marcel Dawson, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, covers the South Central region. Most recently, Dawson was a regional vice president with Pioneer Investments/UniCredit SpA, where he directed sales to institutional RIA clients in 15 states. He graduated from Appalachian State University with degrees in economics and information systems.

Gary Nakamura covers the West and is based in Golden, Colorado. He most recently worked for MFS Investment Management as a director of sales within the firm’s RIA division. Nakamura graduated with bachelors degrees in economics and information/computer sciences from the University of California at Irvine. He holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation.  

Pamela Suing is based in Chicago, and covers the North and Northeast. Suing previously was an RIA consultant at Nuveen Investments. She graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and holds the Certified Financial Plannerand Chartered Life Underwriter designations. 

The new hires give the investment-only team eight regional directors and five internal wholesalers. 

Market Asset Management Names Partner

Andrew J. Silverberg joined Market Asset Management Corp. as an executive vice president and partner.  

 

Silverberg is returning to the firm where he began his investing career and will join Mark Asset Management’s Founder and President Morris Mark in managing all the firm’s hedge funds. Silverberrg will be directly involved in the expansion of the firm’s Investment Focus Fund and its Growth and Income Fund.

Silverberg brings more than a decade of experience to Mark Asset Management, where he began his investment career in 1999. In 2001, he joined money management firm, Fred Alger Management. After a series of promotions, he was made senior vice president and portfolio manager of the company’s large-cap growth and growth and income portfolios, and in addition, the equity portion of Alger’s balanced portfolio. 

Silverberg graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in business, management and finance. He was a member of the Scholars Program at Brooklyn College, the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and was a winner of the T. Bruce Birkenhead Prize in Economics.
