ING Expands Global Bond Team

ING Investment Management Americas has hired Robert Robis as Senior Portfolio Manager on the Global Bond Team and Head of Fixed Income Macro Strategies.

In this newly created position, Robis will help set strategies across global rates, sectors and currencies for various investment portfolios run by the firm.  He also serves as a portfolio manager for the ING Global Bond Fund (INGBX).   

ING says Robis is a seasoned fixed income investment expert who most recently spent five years at OppenheimerFunds, where he held numerous roles including senior fixed income portfolio manager and global macro strategist. Earlier in his career, Robis worked at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.

He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and an MA in Economics from New York University.

Hennion & Walsh Launch Two UITs

Hennion & Walsh expanded its line-up of proprietary SmartTrust Unit Investment Trust (UIT) portfolios, for a total of 18.

The Tax-Free Income Trust (ticker: SMTFEX) seeks to provide income that is generally exempt from normal federal income tax. This two-year unit trust invests in 20 issues of closed-end companies whose portfolios are primarily made up of municipal bonds.

The Growth and Income Trust (ticker: SMGICX) aims to provide investors with capital appreciation and current dividend income. Also a two-year unit, the fund invests in nine issues of common stock of companies, including real estate investment trusts and master limited partnerships, as well as 17 issues of common stock of closed-end investment companies.
