Newport Adds Regional Director

The Newport Group, a provider of retirement and executive benefit plans and investment consulting services, has appointed Joseph Cosentino as a regional director.

Cosentino will develop business relationships and identify market opportunities to promote the sale of Newport’s retirement plan administration and investment services to third-party intermediaries, according to a news release. He will report to Dennis Sain, Newport’s senior vice president, Qualified Retirement Services.

Prior to joining Newport, Cosentino held a number of sales leadership positions with Putnam Retail Management. As vice president, regional 401(k) director, he was responsible for the marketing of Putnam’s 401(k) services through intermediaries in the mid-Atlantic region.

Most recently, Cosentino was senior retirement plan consultant with Ross, Sinclaire and Associates. In that role, he was responsible for developing new business for the firm’s retirement plan group, consulting on plan reviews, and developing employee communication strategies, the announcement said.

Deutsche Bank, NASDAQ OMX Introduce Clean Tech Index

DB Climate Change Advisors (DBCCA), a business of Deutsche Bank’ Asset Management division, and The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc., have introduced the DB NASDAQ OMX Clean Tech Index (DBCC).

The companies said the index is an accurate, real-time representation of the global clean technology sector with exposure to clean energy, energy efficiency, transport, waste management, and water companies.

The index is composed of 119 companies identified by DBCCA from a global universe of approximately 4,000, each, with at least a third of revenues derived from clean technology within investable geographies and exchanges identified by NASDAQ OMX. Of these, 106 companies have more than 50% in clean tech revenues, using only demonstrated revenue from filed financial statements.

Constituent companies must have market capitalization of $250 million and more than $1 million average daily dollar trading volume.  The index is equal-weighted to offer greater exposure to smaller-cap companies.

In addition to a price return index, a total return version is also calculated (DBCT).

The companies said the index provides complete transparency about screening methods, selection criteria, securities, and sector mapping.
