Transamerica Appoints Northeast Regional Vice President

Transamerica Retirement Services has announced the promotion of Scott Young to regional vice president in its Northeast region. 

In this role, Young will be responsible for sales activities and distribution channels in the New York City metropolitan area, Long Island, and New Jersey’s Monmouth, Middlesex, and Hudson counties. He will be based in Manhattan and report to Christopher Barrett, Transamerica’s divisional vice president for the Northeast region.      

According to the announcement, Young assumes the role of regional vice president after serving as a Transamerica sales associate in Manhattan since 2006.  In his role, he was responsible for developing relationships with financial advisers, and helping them to build their retirement business.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Rhode Island. Young is also an Accredited Retirement Plan Consultant. 

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Appoints New Head of Private Wealth Management

Managing Director Douglas J. Ketterer was announced as the new Head of Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. 

The Private Wealth Management group serves the ultra-high net worth client segment through a nationwide network of 300 private wealth advisers. Ketterer will report to Andy Saperstein, Head of Wealth Management in the U.S. 

According to the announcement, Ketterer joined Morgan Stanley in 1990 in the corporate finance area, and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Wealth Management, U.S. He has worked on the origination side of Investment Banking, as well as in product development and strategic planning for Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Before the formation of the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney joint venture, he also led the Products Group for Global Wealth Management.

Ketterer received an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and a B.S. in finance from the University of Albany.
