SSgA Names Two to Investment Team Posts

State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) announced two appointments to its fixed income and equity investment teams.

A news release said Kevin D. Anderson, previously SSgA’s Global Head of Fixed Income Beta Solutions, has been named the new Global Chief Investment Officer for Fixed Income and Currency, effective immediately.

Anderson, based in London, succeeds Mark Marinella who has resigned from SSgA to pursue other opportunities.  Anderson joined SSgA in 2001 and has been responsible for all fixed-income beta solutions worldwide. He has worked extensively in the area of risk budgeting, and prior to SSgA was responsible for the development of quantitative strategies at Schroder Investment Management. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Southampton, and he graduated with a BSc Honours degree in Mathematical Physics from the University of Edinburgh.

SSgA also announced that Marc Reinganum, who joined SSgA in December 2009 from Oppenheimer Funds as Head of International Active Developed Markets Equities, will expand his responsibilities to include the US Active Equity team and the Canada Developed Markets team.

In this expanded role, as Head of Global Active Developed Market Equities, he will work to ensure that SSgA’s active quantitative equity approach is applied consistently in all equity products for developed markets managed globally.

Two Firms Join for Data Exchange

Pension software provider BLAZE SSI and preapproved document provider McKay Hochman have worked out an agreement allowing the two companies to exchange data between their respective systems.

The two-way data transfer will facilitate Form 5500 preparation and reporting, 1099R preparation and distribution, plan design and modeling, and summary annual report preparation and distribution, the company said.

“Teaming up with BLAZE SSI makes tremendous sense for us,” said Rich Hochman, president of McKay. “BLAZE SSI offers a number of services that we don’t, and we offer services they don’t. Yet, these services frequently rely on the same data. By connecting our two systems through a data transfer capability, we can each offer our respective customer bases a broader range of services.”
