Portland, Oregon-based RVK advises more than 200 institutional clients with approximately $4.3 trillion in assets, including public retirement systems, corporate retirement plans, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, health systems and other asset owners. It will continue to be led by its current management team.

RVK’s “deep consulting expertise, rigorous investment research and commitment to putting clients first align closely with how we operate at Creative Planning,” said Peter Mallouk, Creative Planning’s president and CEO, in a statement. “Together, we’ll be able to bring even greater scale, resources and insight to institutions navigating increasingly complex investment and governance decisions.”

RVK provides nondiscretionary investment policy development, asset allocation, asset and liability studies, investment manager research and selection, performance measurement, operational diligence, governance consulting and other specialized institutional advisory services.

“Becoming a Creative Planning affiliate will allow us to preserve [our] client-focused approach and consulting model … while providing our clients and employees with access to broader resources, technology and capabilities,” RVK CEO Josh Kevan said in a statement. “We’re excited about what our firms can accomplish together.”

According to the announcement, the acquisition of RVK will complement Creative Planning’s existing business with retirement plan sponsors, nonprofits and foundations and expand its work in investment strategy, fiduciary governance and portfolio oversight.

The transaction is expected to close in January 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.

As of June 30, Creative Planning had more than $780 billion in assets under management or advisement. Its acquisitions over the past year include SageView Advisory Group, a California-based registered investment adviser with $250 billion in assets under management and advisement; Duncan & Haley Ltd., a Seattle-based RIA with $660 million in assets under management; and two European RIAs.
