Record Number of Candidates Take CFP Board’s July Exam

Of the 3,214 candidates who took the July Certified Financial Planner certification exam, 64% passed.

The CFP Board announced that 3,214 candidates took its Certified Financial Planner certification exam in July, setting a record for a July testing. The pass rate was 64%.

This followed the largest turnout for a March CFP certification exam. The next exam will be offered between November 3 and 12.

“The surge of candidates in 2025 shows the powerful momentum behind CFP certification, and more professionals want to be part of it,” said CFP Board CEO Kevin R. Keller in a statement.

Of the July candidates, 73% were younger than 40 years old, and 42% were younger than 30.

Last year set a record for total CFP certification exam participation, with 10,437 candidates testing and 6,763 candidates passing.
