Ascensus LLC, a recordkeeper and retirement services firm, announced Wednesday that its president, Nick Good, will succeed David Musto as CEO, effective January 1, 2026. Musto, the current chair and CEO, will transition to the role of executive chairman as part of the company’s succession plan, according to the announcement.
“I am honored to serve as Ascensus’ next CEO and lead this outstanding team,” Good said in a statement. “Our differentiated technology platform, service excellence and depth of talent position us for accelerated growth and increased market impact in this next chapter.”
As executive chairman, Musto will remain actively involved, providing strategic and operating counsel to Good, the management team and the board, according to the company’s announcement.
Good became president of the Dresher, Pennsylvania-based firm in September 2023, succeeding Musto. Ascensus, acquired by private equity firm Stone Point Capital in 2021, restructured its retirement business in February 2024 into four business segments that reported to Good.
Good’s previous experience included being CEO of active investment management firm Pendal Group and chief growth and strategy officer of State Street. Prior to that, he was head of strategy for BlackRock in the Asia-Pacific region, among other roles.
Musto joined Ascensus in 2017 after serving as president of Great-West Investments and CEO of J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services.
As of June 30, Ascensus has more than $892 billion in assets under administration and employed more than 5,000 associates.
The firm ranked first among recordkeepers in total employer-sponsored defined contribution plans and eighth in total participants in employer-sponsored DC plans, according to the 2025 Recordkeeping Survey from PLANSPONSOR, a sister publication of PLANADVISER.
