CFP Board Names New CEO
The CFP Board promoted K. Dane Snowden, who joined the organization in 2023.
The CFP Board announced today the appointment of K. Dane Snowden as CEO, effective March 16, 2026. Snowden will succeed Kevin Keller, who is retiring after nearly two decades of leadership.
The appointment of Snowden, the CFP Board’s current chief operating officer, follows a year-long national search in partnership with executive search firm Spencer Stuart.
“Dane’s vision is anchored in evolution, not revolution, building on our organizational strengths while anticipating where CFP Board can drive even greater value for the public, CFP® professionals and candidates,” said the chair of the CFP Board’s board of directors, Terri Kallsen, in a statement, also noting that this is the completion of a multi-year succession plan.
Snowden joined CFP Board as COO in 2023, leading the organization’s core business operations, including CFP certification, marketing, communications, public relations, public awareness, project management and human resources. He served as a key business partner to Keller as CEO and to the board of directors, collaborating with the executive leadership team to execute strategic priorities and align resources to support business objectives.
Prior to joining the CFP Board, Snowden served as a senior adviser at Washington, D.C. law firm Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP, as president and CEO of the Internet Association, and spent a decade as COO of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. He previously held leadership roles at the Wireless Association and was appointed by then-President George W. Bush as chief of the Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission, where he helped lead the creation of the National Do Not Call registry.
A graduate of the College of William & Mary in Virginia, Snowden also served as a public member on the CFP Board’s board of directors from 2017 to 2020.
