More than a quarter of brides-to-be (28%) updated their statuses within hours, and 24% did so the next day. Before saying “I do,” brides rely on sites like Pinterest, Facebook and other online wedding tools. Seven out of 10 women were already pinning on Pinterest before getting engaged.
A whopping 89% of brides-to-be use wedding-planning applications to make checklists, browse gowns and stay organized. About 74% use online websites for wedding music.
More than a third (35%) have mixed feelings about guests posting photos. Most couples (68%) say they want to see photos posted in real-time.
Among other findings of how social media impacts the wedding process:
- More than half (55%) used a wedding hashtag, and 20% encouraged their guests to use their hashtag by sharing it on ceremony programs;
- Thirty-one percent of couples limit guests from sharing wedding photos on social media;
- Most (73%) of brides plan to log on to social media during their honeymoon;
- Almost a quarter (23%) of brides plan to create an online photo wedding album;
- A fifth of brides-to-be used social media to ask friends questions about wedding planning;
- Almost half (46%) of brides were “influenced” by wedding vendors’ presence on social media; and
- More than a quarter (29%) of brides-to-be follow their vendors on Facebook.
