Churchill hires Michael Foley as head of institutional and Bill Stout leads private market strategy at Vanguard.

Michael Foley Hired as Head of Institutional at Churchill

Nuveen affiliate Churchill Asset Management has named Michael Foley senior managing director, head of institutional, effective September 1. Foley will report to CEO and President Ken Kencel andoversee the investment specialist firm’s institutional fundraising and client relationships.

Foley will also take a spot on Churchill’s operating committee and take on the additional role of co-head of institutional business development for Nuveen Private Capital. He will jointly run the division with David Burnside, who is head of business development at Arcmont Asset Management.

Foley joins the company from Franklin Templeton, where he led U.S. institutional direct sales. Prior to Franklin Templeton, he led Guggenheim’s institutional client group for the Americas and Europe.

Bill Stout Joins Vanguard as Head of Private Markets Strategy

Bill Stout joined Vanguard in July as head of private markets strategy, according to a LinkedIn post Stout published last month.

Stout brings more than two decades of asset management and investor relations experience, most recently serving as head of global client group strategy and business development at Nuveen from June 2023 to March 2025. He was senior managing director and head of alternative investments business development at the firm for seven years before his more recent role there.
