  • It’s All Relative: About half of young adults believe that it is harder for people in their generation than it was for people in their parents’ generation (many of whom are Baby Boomers or in the Silent Generation) to support a family (54%), save for the long term (51%), save for a child’s college education (50%), and buy a first home (47%). More than four in 10 think that it is harder for those in their generation to find good employment (44%).
  • Email Addiction Survey: According to AOL Mail’s fourth annual Email Addiction Survey, nearly half (46%) of e-mail users admitted they are hooked on e-mail—up from just 15% who described themselves as addicts last year. More than half (51%) of e-mail users said they check their e-mail four or more times a day, and one in five said they check their e-mail more than 10 times a day. Twenty-three percent of survey respondents reported they check e-mail as soon as they wake up, followed by right when they get home from work (11%), and right after dinner (9%).

  • A new survey conducted by Opinion Research Corporation on behalf of TD AMERITRADE Holding Corporation claims that more than a third (36%) of parents have stopped or reduced saving for their children’s education due to the current economic climate. Most parents (60%) expect it will take 11 or more years to save enough to cover their children’s college education costs.
