While many women in a recent survey admitted they lack an understanding of the fundamentals of retirement investing, that doesn’t mean they don’t want to learn. A Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies poll said 57% want more information and advice from their employers on how to reach goals, and 40% cited  “a good starting point that is easy to understand” as something that would motivate them to learn more about retirement savings.

Fit men are 45% less likely to die of heart disease.

Male couch potatoes who work more than 40 hours a week could be just asking for heart trouble, a study finds. The study, led by Andreas Holtermann of the National Research Centre for the Working Environment in Copenhagen, found that physically fit men were 45% less likely to die of heart disease and 38% less likely to die of other causes than their unfit colleagues, according to a Bloomberg report.

Twenty-one percent of respondents to a CareerBuilder survey say they have had to make ends meet in the last year by cutting back their 401(k) contributions or personal savings. A CareerBuilder news release said 33% reported no retirement savings program partici­pation and 30% said they don’t put any money aside into savings each month.
