2025 Top Retirement Plan Adviser: Erin Hall
Thoughts from Erin Hall, with Strategic Retirement Partners.
This year, PLANADVISER followed up with advisers on the 2025 Top Retirement Plan Advisers listing to get to know them better. These are the responses from Erin Hall of Strategic Retirement Partners, in Los Angeles, California.
PLANADVISER: Has the focus or character of your practice shifted meaningfully over time to respond to evolving client demands, market pressures or the emergence of new technologies?
Hall: I’ve seen the focus of our practice evolve meaningfully over the years in response to shifting client needs, emerging technologies and the changing landscape of the retirement industry. Most recently, that evolution has centered [on] artificial intelligence.
We’ve remained proactive, always striving to stay ahead of the curve. In today’s fast-paced environment, leveraging AI tools has become essential. I like to say I’m a business consultant who knows a lot about retirement plans. In that spirit, we’re helping to introduce clients to AI tools and help organizations get exposure and comfort with this technology. From boosting internal productivity to enhancing participant engagement, our goal has been to demystify AI and translate it from a concept into practical, real-world applications for our clients. We’re committed to helping our clients not only keep pace with change, but lead in their industries.
It has been incredibly rewarding to introduce AI in a way that is both accessible and actionable. Through education, thoughtful planning and collaboration, we’re seeing how these tools can empower better decisions and stronger outcomes for sponsors, participants and business productivity. We see this as only the beginning, and we want to help our clients stay ahead of the curve to remain competitive in their respective industries. We have always taken a proactive approach, aiming to stay ahead of trends and support our clients as the industry changes. I often describe myself as a business consultant with deep expertise in retirement plans. In that spirit, we have begun helping clients explore and adopt AI in ways that are accessible, relevant and meaningful to their organizations. Whether it’s improving internal processes, enhancing participant engagement or streamlining plan oversight, our goal is to translate AI from a buzzword into practical value.
Our role now includes educating clients about AI, providing thoughtful guidance and building confidence in its use. It has been especially rewarding to see how these tools can support stronger decisionmaking and create better results for both plan sponsors and participants. We believe this is just the beginning, and we are committed to helping our clients stay prepared, informed and competitive as the landscape continues to evolve.
PLANADVISER: How do you foresee the retirement plan industry evolving in the coming decade? Will your practice look much the same in 10 years, or do you see significant evolution coming?
Hall: The retirement plan industry is poised for major transformation, and our practice is evolving with it. We anticipate several key shifts:
- Adviser turnover: A significant number of lead advisers will retire by 2035, creating a wave of transition across the industry;
- Need for generational depth: With few seasoned advisers in their 40s, firms must prioritize mentorship, talent development and succession planning now to avoid a future talent gap;
- Industry growth: The surge in startup plans as a response to state mandates is exciting but adds pressure, as demand for knowledgeable advisers continues to outpace supply;
- New plan structures: We expect continued growth in pooled employer plans and other collaborative models, while complex mid-to-large plans will require deeper adviser expertise; and
- Broader consulting scope: Employers increasingly seek integrated guidance across ERISA retirement plans, group health plans and executive benefit programs. Firms offering multidisciplinary expertise from a single source will stand apart.
At SRP, we are building for the future by developing internal talent, recruiting strategically, learning and leveraging new technologies, and expanding our capabilities. While our core values remain constant, our team, service model and strategic approach will continue to evolve to meet the demands of a dynamic and increasingly complex industry.
PLANADVISER: For those plan sponsors looking for a new plan adviser, describe what makes your firm stand out.
Hall: Our firm stands out for its ownership model, depth of experience and collaborative approach. We are owned and led by our managing directors and executive team, ensuring our leadership is fully invested in client success and free from outside shareholder influence. We are intentional about growth, adding only those who align with our values and client-first culture.
Our team combines highly experienced managing directors with a strong bench of specialists. We deliver customized solutions, proprietary tools and strategic guidance tailored to each client. From fiduciary oversight to plan design and regulatory changes, we work as an integrated team focused on helping sponsors navigate an increasingly complex environment. No two plans are the same, and our flexible, proactive approach ensures your needs remain at the center of everything we do.
