Jon Upham to Lead Retirement Solutions Division at Creative Planning
Upham has been with SageView since 1999, when the firm had less than $1 billion in AUA and 75 clients.

SageView Advisory Group President Jon Upham will take the helm of the combined retirement solutions division at Creative Planning, after the close of the SageView acquisition, the company announced today.

Last week, it was announced that Creative Planning had agreed to acquire SageView, with the transaction expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025. The newly combined firm will include more than 550 advisers, representing $640 billion in total client assets as of September 30, 2025. This encompasses 11,800 retirement plans and more than 80,000 private wealth clients across all 50 states and in more than 90 countries worldwide.
Upham has been with SageView since 1999, when the firm had less than $1 billion in AUA and 75 clients. According to his biography on the SageView website, he “takes a leading role in mergers and acquisitions, fostering collaborative relationships and negotiations with prospective firms and advisors. Additionally, he is actively involved in the finance, legal, compliance, technology, operations and human resources initiatives at SageView.”
