ING Names Institutional Distribution Head

 Bas NieuweWeme has been named managing director and head of institutional distribution at ING U.S. Investment Management.

 

 NieuweWeme will oversee the institutional business, setting strategic direction across U.S. and international sales, consultant relations, Requests for Proposal (RFP)s, client service and relationship management. He reports to Shaun Mathews, executive vice president and head of the client group.

NieuweWeme has worked at ING for 13 years, most recently as senior vice president and head of institutional sales in the investment management unit, where he and his team marketed products and solutions to institutional investors.

Earlier in his career, NieuweWeme held various domestic and global marketing and sales roles for ING. Previously, he worked for the tax consultancy group at PricewaterhouseCoopers. NieuweWeme holds an executive master’s degree in business administration from the New York University Stern School of Business, and a law degree from the University of Amsterdam, School of Law. 

Fifth Street Names Capital Markets Leader

 Frederick Buffone has joined Fifth Street Management LLC as a managing director and head of capital markets. 

 

Buffone is responsible for middle-market syndications and club transactions on behalf of Fifth Street Finance Corp. and Fifth Street Senior Floating Rate Corp., both business development companies.

Buffone has more than 20 years of experience in capital markets, principally focused on loan sales and syndications. Most recently, he served as director of debt capital markets and syndications at TD Securities (USA) LLC.  At TD Securities (USA) LLC, Buffone’s responsibilities included structuring, pricing and syndicating loan products as well as assisting in the secondary trading of par loans.  He held similar roles at Jefferies and Company from 2004 to 2009 and CIBC World Markets from 2000 to 2004. Buffone has relationships experience and a background in senior and junior leveraged loans, the firm said in a release.
