Prime Capital Financial announced Thursday that Fred Reish has joined as director of Prime Capital Retirement’s fiduciary and Employee Retirement Income Security Act practice.

Reish, who has practiced employee benefits law since 1973, is departing Faegre Drinker, where he was a partner in the firm’s benefits, executive compensation and investment management groups.

In its announcement, Prime Capital Financial stated that Reish brings a “rare level of experience” in fiduciary standards, prohibited transactions, plan design, retirement income strategies and representing clients before federal regulatory agencies.

“Joining Prime Capital Retirement feels like a natural next step in my career, largely because of the deep relationships I’ve had with many members of this team for so many years,” Reish said in a statement. “I have long admired their integrity, their commitment to clients, and their leadership within the retirement plan industry. … It’s a real opportunity for me to formalize a partnership with people I trust and respect.”

Reish specified it will be “meaningful” to work closely with Prime Capital Financial Chairman Scott Colangelo and Prime Capital Retirement and Wellness President Jania Stout.

“Having a titan like Fred join us is one of the most impactful additions the [registered independent advisory] retirement space has ever seen,” Colangelo said in a statement. “On a personal level, it is the greatest honor of my career to work alongside someone who has been my most influential mentor.”

Reish, a nationally recognized thought leader who PLANADVISER previously honored as a “legend” in retirement planning, addressed the 2024 PLANADVISER 360 Conference on fiduciary rules for rollovers.

“Fred’s decision to align with our organization is one of the strongest validations for what we are building,” Stout said in a statement. “I am personally honored that Fred chose to join us. His qualifications and experience will be extraordinary assets for our clients and advisors, giving them direct access to one of the most respected minds in our industry.”

In a statement, Prime Capital Financial CEO Glenn Spencer said Reish will “play a key strategic role in guiding our growth and will bring tremendous value to our clients.”
