Swing and a Miss…

No matter what industry you’re in, no one can hold the #1 spot forever.

Napoleon didn’t conquer the globe, Bill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world… and soon, Tiger Woods won’t rank in the list of top 10 golfers worldwide.

The Associated Press is reporting that when the annual list of the world’s top golfers comes out this Monday from the Official World Golf Ranking association, Woods won’t be in the top 10 for the first time since 1997.

Woods’ last win was 18 months ago at the Australian Masters. If the prediction is correct, it will be the first time he is out of the top 10 since he was #13 in 1997, before he won the Masters for the first of his 14 majors.

If Woods is upset that his golf ranking is suffering, perhaps his Forbes’ ranking can cheer him up – he’s still the highest ranked athlete on Forbes’ “Celebrity 100” list of the most powerful people or groups in the entertainment business, ranking 6th overall.  Forbes estimated Woods’ total earnings last year to be $75 million, making him the highest-paid athlete, ahead of runners’-up, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
