PLANADVISER Recordkeeper Services Guide

Methodology

Methodology

The data summarized in the tables that follow are from the 2018 PLANSPONSOR Recordkeeping Survey, which now also includes data from our 403(b), 457 and nonqualified deferred compensation (NQDC) buyer’s guides to provide a more complete summary of the defined contribution (DC) market. The results were aggregated from data submitted by 63 service providers that collectively oversee more than $7 trillion in DC assets and are estimated to account for more than 90% of the total defined contribution market.*

Of the 63 participating recordkeepers, 50 claim to serve the intermediary market and are featured in the grid on pages 38 through 40. These firms supplied information on the types of intermediaries they work with, fee structures used, and support services to advisers and other intermediary types. All data, including that reported this year, are as of December 31, 2017; all information from the survey was self-reported. Readers may follow up with providers directly for additional details on the scope of services they have available.

More information can be found online at www.plansponsor.com/research.
