Supreme Court Rules Against Northwestern University in Fee Case
The U.S. Supreme Court has issued a highly anticipated ruling in an Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) lawsuit known as Hughes v. Northwestern University. “For those hoping for an early dismissal that would have made these cases much harder, that did not happen,” one attorney says. “For those hoping that the case would expressly criticize aspects of the fiduciaries’ conduct in this particular case, that did not happen either.”

Yesterday, the Dow increased 99.13 points (0.29%) to 34,364.50, the Nasdaq gained 86.21 points (0.63%) to finish at 13,855.13, and the S&P 500 was up 12.19 points (0.28%) at 4,410.13. The Russell 2000 climbed 45.59 points (2.29%) to 2,033.51, and the Wilshire 5000 closed 235.45 points (0.53%) higher at 44,455.26.

The price of the 10-year Treasury note was unchanged, with its yield up to 1.764%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond decreased 29/32, increasing its yield to 2.114%.
