Mercer Launches Online Retirement Planning Education Campaign

Mercer has launched an online retirement planning education campaign for participants in 401(k) plans it administers.

A Mercer news release said “Retirement Road Trip” is an interactive campaign that takes the user on a five-minute retirement “road trip” tailored to his or her age group. Along the way the participant encounters various obstacles that represent common challenges to saving for retirement and learns helpful, age-appropriate strategies to move beyond such “roadblocks.”

The campaign will be implemented in three separate phases over the course of the year, each phase consisting of a different driving environment that represents and addresses savings challenges: “mountain terrain” (stock market volatility), “road under construction” (major changes in one’s life), and “long desert stretch” (maintaining savings momentum over time). With each new driving environment, participants will find a new set of educational resources, including interactive presentations, timely articles, and easy-to-use retirement planning calculators, according to Mercer.

The “Retirement Road Trip” campaign, which launched in mid-April, is accessible to participants through their retirement plan’s Web site. The campaign is also accessible to the public at www.retirementroadtrip.com. A Facebook and Twitter link are also on the public site.
